The Department of Home Affairs has recently made some positive changes for visa holders on 482 visas wishing to apply for PR under 186.
The new regulations now allow:
- Anyone holding a 482 visa, regardless if their nominated occupation on their 482 visa is on the short-term or medium/long-term list they are eligible to apply for 186 under Temporary Residence Transition Stream;
- You can apply after two years of holding a 482 visa in any occupation, no longer three years;
- All other conditions have to be met such as English, character, age (under 45 at time of application)
- Applicants over 45 who meet the age exemption requirements can also apply after 2 years on a 482 visa.
