2021 has been an unpredictable year for everyone due to the impact of COVID-19, including migration changes, lockdowns and travel bans from the Australian government. However, times are changing and the Australian government is looking to the future of the Australian economy by including 22 additional jobs on the Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL).
The expanded PMSOL for 2021 now identifies a total of 41 priority occupations, including accountants, chefs, civil engineers and software programmers to fill onshore skill gaps and aid in job creation by attracting critically important workers to Australia. As a result, more skilled workers will be eligible to have their visa applications fast-tracked by the Department of Home Affairs.
While the existing skilled migration occupation list will stay active, and visa applications will be processed, employer-sponsored applicants in the PMSOL occupations will be given priority processing for both nomination and visa applications in the following visa types:
Applicants and existing employer-sponsored visa holders on the PMSOL can also request a travel exemption to enter Australia during the current border closures.
With state and territory migration programs in Australia due to reset their quotas in the new financial year, now is the time to consider migration to Australia if you are a skilled worker.
