The Department of Home Affairs has recently made some positive changes for visa holders on 482 visas wishing to apply for PR under 186.

The new regulations now allow:

  1. Anyone holding a 482 visa, regardless if their nominated occupation on their 482 visa is on the short-term or medium/long-term list they are eligible to apply for 186 under Temporary Residence Transition Stream;
  2. You can apply after two years of holding a 482 visa in any occupation, no longer three years;
  3. All other conditions have to be met such as English, character, age (under 45 at time of application)
  4. Applicants over 45 who meet the age exemption requirements can also apply after 2 years on a 482 visa.
